In the midst of the city of Salzburg the famous Getreidegasse extends besides the Linzergasse.
The picturesque idyll that runs through this historic shopping street is characterized by the impressive architecture of the old houses with a public thoroughfare, which used to fulfill the purpose of getting to the water – the Salzach – faster. Characteristic of them are the windows, which are getting smaller and smaller from the first floor, as well as the magnificent entrance doors, as can also be found at Mozart’s birthplace in the Getreidegasse number nine.
Worth seeing are, among other things, the treasure house with treasure houses with a public thoroughfare and the Baron Lassberghouse with its two arcade courtyards. Besides all these sights, the beautiful wrought-iron guild signs remind of old times.
But also the present has found its place in the Getreidegasse.
A variety of small shops invite you to shop. There are jewelery, antiques, delicacies, perfumeries and much more in abundance. In addition, the most exclusive shops in Salzburg are located in Getreidegasse: Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Swarowski and many more offer great shopping opportunities.
In one of the many cafes and restaurants that are located in the Getreidegasse, visitors can relax from their shopping and enjoy once again the sight of Salzburg’s most beautiful street. In the evening, small bars invite you to linger for a unique shopping trip.
The Getreidegasse is only a few minutes by car or taxi from our hotel and also easily reached by bus in a short time.
