The RedBull stadium, also called arena, covers since the completion of 25. 07. 2007 a spectator number of 29800. The former standing-place curve was replaced by a seat curve. The parking spaces were increased to 2000. Arriving by public transport is very comfortable. For arrival by bus or coach a separate parking space is available. On event days, spectators are requested to travel by public transport.
When FC Wüstenrot Salzburg was taken over by Red Bull in 2005, it was almost certain that the new arena would be called “RedBull Arena”. On 6 May 2006, the reconstruction work began.
The arena is the first Bundesliga stadium, which has an artificial turf, but for the European Championships in 2008, real turf was placed over the artificial turf. At the same time, 900 seats were created for the press.
The Arena is located on the outskirts of Salzburg in the district Wals – Siezenheim and was rebuilt exclusively for the European Football Championship 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. The RedBull Stadium serves as the home ground of FC Red Bull Salzburg.
