We have already explained in our last blog article, what you can do against the marine pollution and also today, we would like to spend our time on this important topic. Especially the women among you will be familiar with it: specifically in the bathroom, numerous plastic bottles and jars filled with shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, body lotion, face creams, makeup removers and lip balms are piling up. We want to introduce plastic-free and above all natural alternatives:
Own shampoo can be produced super-simply by yourself and be filled in empty plastic tubes, so that you can reuse them reasonably. Therefore, you only need ten grammes of all-natural olive soap, depending on your preference five to ten branches of rosemary (which promotes the circulation and the hair growth), five to ten branches of melissa (which operates against the regreasing of the hair) and 270 millilitres of distilled water. Of course, you can add your own herbs according to your pleasure and the desired impact. First of all, you have to scrape fine flakes off the olive soap with a rasp and then liquidate them in 170 millilitres of boiling, distilled water. Subsequently, the herbs should be washed heartily, hackled and preferably also treated with the rolling pin, so that the active substances can optimally be extracted. Therefore, you need to bring the remaining 100 millilitres of the distilled water to the boil and leave melissa and rosemary to draw therein for approximately 15 minutes. Finally, the herbal solution should be poured through a sieve, mixed with the soap suds and filled into an airtight sealable jar. However, you must not expect that the shower experience is the same like with customary products from the supermarket. The shampoo is more fluid, but foams less and functions as a concentrate. That is why you should only use small quantities as it will get hard to wash it out otherwise.
Those of you who find this procedure too elaborate, could purchase a hard shampoo from Lush, for instance. It foams wonderfully, smells marvelous and also consists of natural ingredients only. Aside from that, Lush offers numerous other care products, like conditioners, hard perfumes, peelings, lotions, toothpastes and many, many more. Everything is most certainly fresh, handmade, vegetarian, fairtrade and not tested on animals!
We wish you a lot of fun with trying out these natural and environmentally friendly products!
