Also this year, the Federal Economic Chamber Salzburg has searched for the “Apprentice of the year 2017”, together with the ORF and the local newspapers once again. True to the motto “Bist du g’scheid” (you are brainy), the ten most outstanding adolescents have been nominated by a competent expert jury. But being solely intelligent was not enough, the trainees had to bring along much more for the competition. Aside from the scholastic achievements, criteria like for example individual characteristics, social commitment, determination, devotedness and potential for development flowed in the selection. Hence, much has been required from the ambitious adolescents. All the more proud are we from the Green Hotel zur Post, that our trainee Nina Winninger fulfills all those criteria and therefore has been chosen among the ten best apprentices of the year! The 22 year old young woman showed particularly much fighting spirit as she is Salzburg’s first hospitality industry assistant in a wheelchair.
However, Nina cannot be undeterred by hurdles and is at the works with much joy, diligence and commitment, wherefore she is a real enrichment for our family business. Currently, she is in the third year of apprenticeship and actively supports us at the reception and when necessary, also in the breakfast kitchen. The resolution to join the hotel business came relatively spontaneous after the matriculation. However, Nina has been clear in her mind that she does not want to carry out some boring “desk job” right from the beginning. Therefore, the thing she likes best about her job is the personal contact with people, especially when she can get to know different nationalities and cultures. Working together on eye level has priority for all of us at the Green Hotel zur Post, as we can all still learn from each other. Aside from that, a cordial atmosphere and the personal contact with our employees are very important to us, which is why we hope that Nina will feel comfortable with us still for a long time.
